Edward Moses Stayton Papers 1910-1952.

Stayton, a World War I veteran, was Brigadier General of the Missouri National Guard; professional engineer; Jackson County civic leader; President of the Jackson County Historical Society. He is best known for his involvment with road construction in Jackson County during Harry S Truman's tenure as a judge on the Jackson County Court. Collection includes a June 27, 1933 report by the Missouri Relief and Reconstruction Commission's Public Works Committee, of which Stayton chaired, which suggests potential public works projects in Missouri; a 1934 report by the Missouri State Planning Board, of which Stayton was a member, to the National Planning Board titled, "State Plan for Missouri: Preliminary Report," which includes suggestions for potential C.W.A. and P.W.A. projects in Missouri; a 1930 report and speech by Stayton describing the Jackson County Road Construction Program; newspaper clippings and a 1932 celebration program and map; and correspondence dated 1927-1937 relating to the Missouri National Guard.
